The Course
The course for all events (Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, Kid's Magic Mile) is out and back, starting and finishing on the Fran Wilde Walkway in front of the Westpac Stadium.
All events are out and back, although in the final 3k of all events the return journey is slightly different to the outward journey.
Every kilometre is marked normally on the outward journey. But on the return journey markings will countdown kilometres remaining. This is to avoid confusion between kilometre points for four different events on the same out and back route. The Full Marathon and Half Marathon events will count down kilometres from 10k to go. The 10k event will countdown kilometres from 5k to go.
All distances will be IAAF certified.
All events start by heading south on the Fran Wilde Walkway for 300m, left over the Waterloo Quay Overbridge and down onto Waterloo Quay. Then continues south toward Wellington City…

The Classic Hits Kid’s Magic Mile...
… Turns around after approx 800m on Waterloo Quay, outside Bluebridge Ferry Terminal (opposite Wellington Railway Station).
The Kid's Magic Mile then returns to the Stadium the same way.
Marshals will be on hand and parents are invited to accompany their children.

The 10k, Half Marathon and Marathon...
… All continue south on the same roadway into Customhouse Quay, Jervois Quay and Cable Street.
The course then continues along Cable Street, past TePapa Museum and Waitangi Park to the end of Cable Street, where it turns left onto Oriental Parade.
The
course then follows Oriental Parade, using the seaward road lane, around the waterfront to Point Jerningham…

The adidas 10K...
… Turns around approximately 500m past Point Jerningham.
After the turn around the 10K returns on the seward footpath along Oriental Parade.
Instead of returning to Cable Street the course turns 150m earlier into Herd St, which takes participants into the Wellington Waterfront area.
The course follows the waterfront, past the Marina and behind TePapa Museum and Frank Kitts Park to Queens Wharf.
At Queens Wharf the course passes under the sails onto the car park access road, which it follows north all the way to Bluebridge Ferry entrance.
At Bluebridge the course stays on the footpath for the final 800m north along Waterloo Quay and onto the Fran Wilde Walkway for the finish back at Westpac Stadium.

The Shoe Clinic Half Marathon...
… Continues past Point Jerningham on the seaward road lane around the waterfront to Evans Bay, where it turns left onto Cobham Drive and continues along the waterfront to Miramar Cutting.
Immediately in front of Miramar Cutting the course turns left into Shelley Bay Road.
Using the landward road lane, the Half Marathon course continues for approx. 800m along Shelley Bay Road to the Half Marathon turn around point.
After the turn around the Half Marathon returns on the seaward lane to Miramar Cutting, and then on the seaward footpath back along Cobham Drive, Evans Bay and Oriental Parade.
Instead of returning to Cable Street the course turns 150m earlier into Herd St, which takes participants into the Wellington Waterfront area.
The course follows the waterfront, past the Marina and behind TePapa Museum and Frank Kitts Park to Queens Wharf.

The Armstrong Motor Group Full Marathon...
… Continues along the waterfront, moving to the seaward side of the road, past Shelley Bay, Scorching Bay and Worser Bay to Marine Parade in Seatoun.
Just after Seatoun Wharf on Marine Parade, the course switches to the landward side of the road.
At the end of Marine Parade the course turns right and follows Inglis Street over the Pass of Branda and into Breaker Bay Road.
Approx 1k after the Pass of Branda the Full Marathon turns around and returns back over Pass of Branda to Marine Parade.
At Marine Parade the course crosses back to the seaward side of the road and follows the waterfront back around the bays back to
Miramar Cutting.
